Braided Toque Pattern

Here’s another pattern for you to enjoy! A pdf version can be found here and also on ravelry.
UPDATE: This pattern is for an 18″ wide hat (an adult small/child large), for an adult medium (20″) simply repeat rows 1-18 once more.
This hat-knitting experience may be a little different than you expect. While most hats are knit bottom to top, or even top to bottom, this hat is knit left to right. Instead of decreasing near the end, you will be decreasing in nearly every row. This hat is knit two strands at a time for a super warm and cozy hat perfect for winter.
Materials:
Yarn – 1 skein (in two balls) of Dream in Color Classy 100% superwash merino wool (4oz, 250 yds)
Needles – Size 11 (8mm)
Other materials:
- Tapestry needle
- Cardboard for pom pom, if desired
Gauge: 20st and 15 rows in twisted rib st = 4”
Measurements: 18” in circumference, 8” in height
Here is a chart for the pattern. Written instructions are shown below for more clarification!

I really enjoyed this pattern and wrote a review of it on my blog: http://knittingpatternreview.blogspot.com/2012/10/the-knitters-newts-braided-toque-hat.html
Thanks that’s super cool!! The sizing was one thing I was uncertain about (I think I have a small head?), but I will include instructions for different sizes soon!
